We spend about one hour each day on MATH. Students will learn addition and subtraction facts, place value, data and graphs, money & time, geometry, two and three digit addition and subtraction, multiplication and division. We start each lesson with fun mental math games to activate the mathematical part of their brain. The goal is to strengthen student’s number sense, develop an understanding of mathematical concepts, and an ability to apply these concepts and skills.
Our RELIGION program (about 20 minutes each day) includes prayers, bible stories, church history, saints, the mass, and sacramental preparation. Throughout the day the students will be hearing the gospel messages in all that we do.
Our SCIENCE program teaches scientific inquiry of life, earth, and physical sciences. Students will investigate how living things grow and change, understand what “matter” is, develop age appropriate knowledge and understanding of earth’s surface, weather and space. Later on in the year they will each present a science project. Our SOCIAL STUDIES program helps students acquire skills and knowledge of geography, history, and people in societies. At the end of the year we do a special presentation of FAMOUS AMERICANS. We spend about two hours per week on both SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES.
Students will continue working on their penmanship in HANDWRITING class using the Zaner-Bloser textbooks. The program also helps students with the reading writing connection.
