Science in March:
EARTH"S RESOURCES
SCIENCE PRESENTATIONS
Living Things Grow and Change
Metamorphosis Watch the metamorphosis of a grasshopper or a butterfly!
Abalone Life Cycle Game Sequences the stages of this life cycle.
Life Cycle of a Fern Watch the life cycle of this neat plant.
Life Cycle of a Plant Learn more about how plants grow.
LIVING & NON LIVING THINGS
In science we are learning that living things grow and change. We are learning how plants grow and change and what plants need.
WE WILL STUDY:
The vocabulary words seed coat, germinate, seedling, nutrients
How plants grow from seeds.
What the parts of the plant do. Roots, stems, leaves, and flowers, and seeds.
On September 2nd the students each planted to two kinds of seeds. They will give their plants what they need, water, and sunlight, they will chart their growth and note changes.
Here are some photos-stay tuned for more pictures when the plants start changing.

Today, September 23, the second graders and their seventh grade buddies decorated plant pots and transplanted their seedlings.
Some of the seedlings are a foot tall already.

Today the students went leaf collecting. They CLASSIFIED (important science skill)the leaves into one of three groups: NEEDLES< ONE LARGE LEAF< MANY SMALL LEAFLETS. Try classifying the leaves around your home this weekend.
